Michigan Admin. Code R. 408.4027, better known as ASME code CSD-1, is a regulation concerning the operation and safety of boilers in commercial buildings, and a few residential, dependent on the size of the boiler. These annual inspections are mandatory, where the State of Michigan will remind businesses when their inspection is due.
• Check over-all condition of boiler
• Check safety controls, limits, etc
• Check heat exchanger for carbon or cracks
• Check condition of blower motor, wheel and belt, and switches; oil, adjust and clean as needed
• Check for proper ignition, pilot light and proper burning of main burners; clean or adjust as needed
• Check water level on boilers; adjust to proper levels as needed
• Inspect condition of venting/vent connections
• Inspect condition of controls and burners; clean as needed
• Inspect filter and advise customer of proper cleaning or replacement
• Inspect chimney and flue pipe for proper draft condition
• Seal any clean-out doors
• Ensure thermostat starts/shuts down unit properly
• Clean and inspect electrical components
• Clean and inspect flame sensor
• Clean up furnace and surrounding area
• Start up burner and check operation
